We’re thrilled to announce we’ve won three Daytime Emmy Awards for our film Secret Lives of Orangutans – with Sir David Attenborough making history with us at 99 years old as the oldest Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Daytime Personality.
The wins mark a major achievement for our team behind Secret Lives of Orangutans – the world’s first feature-length film about wild orangutans, offering an intimate and unprecedented look at one of our closest relatives.
Some of the filmmaking team, including the film’s Producer and Director Huw Cordey, attended the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday October 17, 2025 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California.

The crew filmed over two years in the lush rainforests of Suaq, following a multi-generational orangutan family and revealing the hidden dynamics of their treetop world. Capturing such elusive behaviour was only possible thanks to the extraordinary dedication of the filming team, and the invaluable support of scientists, local guides, and park rangers.

Secret Lives of Orangutans won across three categories:
-
Outstanding Directing Team for a Single-Camera Daytime Nonfiction Program for Director Huw Cordey
-
Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for the original score by David Mitcham and score co-producer Michael Whight
-
Outstanding Daytime Personality for Sir David Attenborough’s captivating narration
Secret Lives of Orangutans is produced by Silverback Films, from Executive Producer Keith Scholey, Produced and Directed by Huw Cordey, with Production Manager Rebecca Coombs.
