We’re thrilled to share that Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story and Life on Our Planet have been chosen as finalists for the prestigious Jackson Wild 2024 Media Awards, in three categories.

The awards recognise excellence & innovation in science and nature storytelling, with over 500 remarkable films and 1,100 category entries from 74 different countries around the world this year. Finalists were selected by more than 200 international judges who together screened over 1,000 hours of media.

We’re incredibly proud that two of our productions stood out among the best, earning their place in this celebration of the best of natural history filmmaking.

Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story, is a finalist in the ‘Feature’ and ‘People & Nature’ category. Our Nat Geo documentary film is a heart-warming story of love between a wild otter and a man set in the remote Scottish islands of Shetland.

Life on Our Planet is a finalist in the new ‘Trailblazer’ category which is awarded to a film that breaks away from traditional natural history storytelling by harnessing creative elements such as comedy, animation or narrative film.

Our ground-breaking 8-part Netflix series is the story of life’s epic battle to conquer and survive on planet Earth. Created in association with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and in partnership with Industrial Light & Magic, we use the latest technology and science to bring long extinct creatures back to life, charting their remarkable rise and fall.

Winners will be announced on Thursday, September 5 during the Jackson Wild Media Awards Gala at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.
