We’re honoured that Silverback Films has topped the 2024 Wildscreen Panda Awards – the most prestigious event in the wildlife film and TV industry – which took place in Bristol last week (October 17th). We took home 4 awards, with Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story taking the highly coveted Golden Panda for the best overall production. The jury’s decision was unanimous, praising the production for its deep emotional resonance and its innovative approach to wildlife storytelling.
The critically-acclaimed Billy & Molly also won the Producer/Director Award for Director Charlie Hamilton-James and Silverback Producer Jeff Wilson, as well as the Scripted Narrative Award for Charlie Hamilton-James.

This follows the film being nominated for 6 Critics Choice Awards for; Best Documentary Feature, Best New Documentary Filmmaker – Charlie Hamilton-James, Best Cinematography – Johnny Rolt and Bertie Gregory, Best Score – Erland Cooper, Best Narration (written by Charlie Hamilton-James, performed by Billy Mail and Susan Mail), and Best Science / Nature Documentary.
Wild Isles (Ocean) won Best Cinematography for it’s spectacular and powerful showcase of the vibrant seas that surround the British Isles. The award was collected by BAFTA and EMMY award winning underwater cinematographer Doug Anderson and professional marine cameraman Jacca Deeble who worked on the series for Silverback. Doug accepted the award on behalf of all of the crew that worked on the episode (Bertie Gregory, Charlie Hamilton-James Darren Williams, Jesse Wilkinson, Jo Charlesworth, Steven McGee-Callender and Tom Walker) and he also thanked the whole production team for their support.
