Earlier this month (3rd July) WWF, the RSPB and the National Trust co-hosted a reception at Westminster Abbey College Gardens to showcase the #SaveOurWildIsles campaign. The event was a call to action for UK nature following the success of our Wild Isles series and complimentary Save Our Wild Isles documentary which have highlighted the UK nature crisis and firmly put it on the agenda for politicians and businesses.
It was a fantastic event with speakers Beccy Speight, CEO of the RSPB; Rt Hon Therese Coffey MP, Environment Secretary; Sir Ed Davey MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats; Katie White, Executive Director of Advocacy and Campaigns at WWF; Jim McMahon MP, Shadow Environment Secretary and Hilary McGrady, Director-General of the National Trust. The evening included a panel hosted by Springwatch presenter Megan McCubbin – representing farmers, big business, and the People’s Assembly for Nature – talking with real passion and insight about the urgent action that we all need to take for nature, and the opportunities that we could take if we make the right decisions today.
Attendees included MPs, Peers, members of the Environmental APPG, business leaders, community representatives, farmers, and members of the People’s Assembly for Nature.
The Saving Our Wild Isles documentary, inspired by the Wild Isles series, was produced by Silverback Films, and narrated by Sir David Attenborough – you can watch it now on BBC iPlayer. The film shares stories of passionate people across the UK who are working to bring nature back from the brink. It brings to life that the scale and pace of change so urgently needed to save nature in the UK is not only possible – it’s already happening
We also produced four new advocacy films for WWF, RSPB and National Trust focusing on how business can really drive the change needed to Save Our Wild Isles and the risks to businesses that fail to account for their reliance on nature.
