A Gorilla Story

This intimate documentary from Silverback Films blends the remarkable story of David Attenborough’s first encounter with a baby gorilla named Pablo with a return to the mountains of Rwanda to discover how Pablo’s descendants are doing today.

Weaving together contemporary and archival footage – and narrated by Attenborough, including excerpts from his 1978 journals – A Gorilla Story reveals extraordinary gorilla behaviour never filmed before, offering a rare and intimate insight into the daily lives of these remarkable animals. Our team spent over 250 shooting days across multiple years in Volcanoes National Park, capturing the lives of the Pablo Group across changing seasons.

Built on more than 55 years of work by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund – the world’s longest-running and largest organisation dedicated to gorilla conservation – the film reflects decades of research, protection and deep understanding of these extraordinary animals.
