Silverback Films celebrated two wins at the 2026 Venice TV Awards, with Ocean with David Attenborough recognised for Cinematography and Parenthood winning the Technology & Innovation Award.
Ocean with David Attenborough, our feature documentary produced with Open Planet Studios for National Geographic, took home the Gold Trophy for Cinematography, recognising the extraordinary visual craft behind the film.

Cinematographers Toby Strong and Doug Anderson were recognised for his work on the film, which took audiences beneath the surface to reveal both the spectacular beauty of our ocean and the urgent challenges it faces.
The award follows a remarkable year for the film’s visual craft, with Toby and Director of Underwater Photography Doug Anderson also jointly winning the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography.
Our BBC landmark series Parenthood was awarded Gold in the Technology & Innovation category.
Filmed over three years across six continents and 26 countries, Parenthood used the latest filming technology to capture the extraordinary lengths animal parents go to protect, nurture and raise their young. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, the five-part series combines intimate animal behaviour with cinematic natural history storytelling, revealing moments rarely – and in some cases never before – captured on screen.
The series was produced and directed by Jeff Wilson, with Keith Scholey as Executive Producer, and produced by Silverback Films for BBC One in association with All3Media International.
The Venice TV Awards celebrate excellence across television and content from around the world, with an international jury recognising outstanding work across categories spanning documentary, entertainment, innovation and craft.
A huge congratulations to Toby Strong, Doug Anderson, Jeff Wilson and everyone across the Ocean with David Attenborough and Parenthood teams whose creativity, technical expertise and extraordinary filmmaking made these awards possible.
