Silverback Films: Introduction to Wildlife Filmmaking Programme
Expression of Interest (EOI)
Silverback Films is offering a one (1) – week ‘Introduction to Wildlife Filmmaking Programme’ in November 2026.
This programme is for two (2) people who want to learn about wildlife filmmaking and natural history television.
You do not need TV experience, industry contacts or a degree.
The placement is unpaid. We will cover reasonable travel and lunch costs.
What You Will Do
You will learn about parts of making natural history programmes, such as:
- research
- logging
- script writing
- post-production and editing
- production management
- camera kit
- budgeting
You will meet the teams at Silverback, learn what they do, and get guidance about possible next steps.
Key Details
Dates: November 2026, likely the third or fourth week.
Typical hours: 10am – 5pm (although we are happy to discuss flexible arrangements to support any access requirements or additional needs).
Location: Bristol.
Who Can Apply
You can apply if you:
- are aged 18 – 25yrs at the start of the placement
- are based in Bristol or can travel to Bristol from within the UK already
- have no previous professional TV credits
- have not completed a degree-level qualification.
(please do not apply if these criteria do not apply to you)
We encourage applications from people from Global Ethnic Majority backgrounds and from Deaf, Disabled and/or Neurodivergent (DDN) individuals, who are currently under-represented within the wildlife filmmaking industry.
This programme is a positive action initiative. All applicants will be assessed against the same selection criteria, and no one will be selected solely because of a protected characteristic or identity.

You can apply by written statement (no more than 350 words combined), audio recording or video recording (no more than 2 minutes total). You do not need formal language. We will not mark spelling, grammar or presentation unless we cannot understand your answers.

Selection Process
The closing deadline is Friday 21 August.
After the deadline, we will read all eligible applications using the same criteria. We expect to invite about 20 people to the next stage, interview about 8 people, and choose 2 people for the placement.
We may not be able to reply to everyone. Every application received before the deadline will be read.
If you do not hear from us after selection has finished, this means you have not been selected this time. Thank you for applying.

For example, you can ask for information in another format, more time, interview questions in advance, a different interview format, or another reasonable adjustment.
